Our Team is Committed to Giving Back

In addition to a strong commitment to the legal profession, our firm is committed to giving back to the South Florida community. Here are a few recent events our team has participated in.

Tri-County Animal Rescue
We are proud to support Tri-County Animal Rescue, a 100% no-kill, nonprofit animal shelter serving Broward, Miami-Dade, and Palm Beach counties. Two of the firm’s partners, Jeff Brown and Ken Ronan, have maintained positions on the rescue center’s Board of Directors for several years. Ken Ronan, who currently serves as Vice Chairman for Tri-County, has three dogs and a cat adopted from the shelter.

Recently, the firm helped raise almost $9,000 towards a new facility for Tri-County’s Animal Rescue. A two-story residence hall is scheduled to open this year and will replace the 22-year-old main building. This new facility will allow the shelter to double their current animal housing capacity. Additionally, some of these funds will be allocated towards the development of a new, state-of-the-art, 9,000 square foot veterinary center that will house two surgical suites, five isolation rooms, and an X-ray machine. With this new facility, Tri-County Animal Rescue will be better equipped to continue to provide the best possible care for animals in need until they are adopted into their new forever homes.

American Heritage National Mock Jury Trial Competition

Ken Ronan, one of the firm’s partners, also gives back to the greater South Florida community by teaching a law class at American Heritage School, a PK3 through 12 school with campuses in Boca Raton and Delray Beach. Students in the Legal Studies program compete with other student teams from the region and throughout Florida. Recently, these students participated in a National Mock Jury Trial Competition held in the Broward County central courthouse.

Teams wereassigned a legal case and needed to prepare to testify as witnesses in open court. Some students were given roles as attorneys and had to be prepared to provide opening and closing statements, as well as direct and cross-examinations.Eleven schools competed this year, and the students at American Heritage were proud to place first in this competition.
